To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I am interested in applying for an elementary teaching position in your district. As a graduate of the University of California at Irvine, I have student teaching experience in both first and third grade in the Capistrano and Newport-Mesa Unified School Districts.  I believe I will make a difference in your school due to my desire to challenge students to reach their potential in a safe and diverse environment.

As my resume illustrates, I have been committed to the field of education since 2009. I had the opportunity to work in several elementary schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where I gained valuable experience working one-on-one with special needs children. This experience provided me with a foundation in differentiating instruction for students at all ability levels, setting and following through with reachable goals for learning and behavior, and maintaining a respectful classroom climate. During my student teaching experiences, I had incredible opportunities to work with students at all levels and varying English proficiencies. I gained competency in planning creative lessons that provide appropriate support and scaffolding for student needs, and in using novel teaching techniques such as CGI. My teaching philosophy centers on promoting a deep level of understanding for all students.

While my experiences academically and professionally have prepared me exceptionally well to enter a career in teaching, I also possess innate values that make me a particularly qualified teacher. I truly embrace the idea that building a positive relationship with each student, where they are both challenged and encouraged, is one of the most important factors in student learning. I am committed to helping my students both meet the standards and enjoy the process of learning, and I believe that my own continual development as a teacher is a vital element to that goal.

Thank you again for your consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to speaking with you further!

Sincerely,

Brittany Kirby
